Color Guard/Honor Guard:

I know we are not an active duty military Honor/Color Guard, but we need to remember and honor the reasons we conduct the ceremonies we do. Color Guard Duties shall consist of the care, custody, and proper official display of the Colors, Flags, and Standards of the SAMS Organization. Responsibility for carrying and displaying our flags in parades and various events during the year. Honor Guard Duties shall consist of conducting Flag Folding and Retirement Ceremonies at Highland Games and various Veterans’ related events throughout the year. Special training is available for those members who are not sure how this ceremony is conducted. I will be responsible for all training of both the Honor Guard and Color Guard, as well as ensuring we have the appropriate number of volunteers for each event. Part of my duties also includes the calling of commands and cadence as necessary, as well as acting as the liaison between SAMS and whomever we are providing the Color/Honor Guard for. Any questions, please feel free to call me. I look forward to working with you in the future.

Bryan Harris

Ceremonies Officer

Special thanks to the Sacramento Firefighters Pipe Band for their support at the 20th Anniversary of the Sacramento Vietnam Memorial. They have been performing for veterans, police, and firefighters ceremonies for several years now and their participation is most welcome.
